Alas, the Holiday Season and New Year have ended the problematic year 2020. It has been a difficult year for the world, our nation and its citizens. Conversely, it has shown the resiliency of many people.
The Thomas Behen Fund, with our supporters and partnerships, have been able to continue our mission and support our community. We have provided College Scholarships to dynamic young people to continue in their pursuits and dreams. We helped send 3 youth BASS teams to the National High School and Junior Championships in western Tennessee. We were able to help families and individuals with necessities of food by feeding over 2500 people, providing over 100 families and individuals with toiletries: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and such. We were able to provide Veterans and families with clothing to keep them warm. Also, we were able to provide Holiday gifts for a dozen families.
As 2021 begins to unfold, we are looking forward to some exciting developments. When the snow melts and the ground thaws, we will begin the literal groundwork to build Thomas’ Casting Camp in Sebago, Maine. If you have resources, machinery or time to help, please do not hesitate to lend your expertise. We have over 10 acres sitting on the banks of Southeast Pond. A crystal-clear pond that spans 173 acres with a variety of fish: https://www.maine.gov/…/lake…/oxford/southeast_pond.pdf This will allow youngsters an opportunity to learn how to fish and to safely explore the Maine woods.
